MIA to Worth Avenue

Four blocks of Palm Beach, reached without fuss

70 miles70-100 minutesFixed fare from $129

Worth Avenue runs four blocks from Lake Worth to the Atlantic, and it is the reason a great many people come to Palm Beach at all. The storefronts are famous, but the part regulars actually navigate by is the vias: the narrow courtyards off the main run, Via Mizner and Via Parigi among them, where the shops fold back into planted alleys and the noise drops away. Addresses here are given by via as often as by street number, which is worth knowing before a driver is circling.

From Miami International Airport the run is about 70 miles, effectively straight north. The usual line is SR-112 to I-95, north through Broward and into Palm Beach County, exit at Okeechobee Boulevard, then east across the Royal Park Bridge onto Royal Palm Way and south to the avenue. Reckon on 70 to 100 minutes. The variable is not the highway so much as the hour: I-95 through Boca and Delray thickens between four and six on weekday afternoons, and the Turnpike is sometimes the faster spine.

The fare is fixed when you book, from $129 in a Business sedan, and covers the things that otherwise appear as surprises: the driver waiting inside MIA arrivals with a name board, 30 minutes of grace after a domestic landing and 60 after an international one, airport parking, tolls, and flight tracking that moves your pickup when the aircraft does.

Two practical notes. Worth Avenue parking is metered and tightly enforced, so a car that drops you and leaves is genuinely more convenient than one you have to garage. And in season, roughly November through April, the avenue and the bridges either side of it run slowly at midday; if you are arriving with a lunch reservation, build in twenty minutes rather than trusting the map estimate.

What to expect

  • Meet and greet inside MIA arrivals with a name board
  • Route: SR-112 to I-95 North, Okeechobee Boulevard, Royal Park Bridge
  • Drop-off by via or street number, not just the avenue
  • Driver switches to the Turnpike when I-95 slows through south county
